I’m pretty sure that they used to use an “E” grade to mean excellent, so after that it didn’t make sense for it to be the grade below a D. And the double u thing has always confounded me. I prefer how they say dobleve (no idea if I spelled that right) in Spanish. But when I write double u’s, they look more like two u’s than two v’s.
